This is an Active tour.

This means we are on the go. You don’t want to miss a thing, so walking and standing outdoors in natural conditions for longer periods of time (1-3 hours) should be expected, and should be a reasonable demand considering your physical condition.

You can expect to navigate hills and uneven ground, climb into various modes of transportation (vans, boats, tuk-tuks, etc.), and can anticipate changes in elevation.

While the weather in January and Feburary is ideal in Thailand and Cambodia, you can expect periods of heat and notable humidity levels, as these are tropical climates.

You can expect some longer days balanced with free-time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. Due to uneven terrain, sidewalks, stairs, etc., Thailand and Cambodia is not well-suited for those with significant mobility issues, especially those requiring canes, walkers, or wheelchairs.

It is not possible to remain in our vehicle when stopped for included experiences, though in some cases there may be visitor centers available for your comfort.

Day 1: BANGKOK ARRIVAL
Arrive in Bangkok and make way to your hotel in the city center with our included airport transfer.

Bangkok is a city of contrasts: peaceful temples, chaotic markets. The ancient and the modern overlap here, and the city celebrates our arrival.

We’ve include your pre night hotel so that you can check in, have breakfast, and refresh after a long journey.

We’ll meet this afternoon to get acquainted and oriented before our included welcome dinner (B, D)
Day 2: BANGKOK’S GRAND PALACE AND TRADITIONAL LONGBOAT
This morning we’ll trade the vibrant chaos of Bangkok’s streets for the unique perspective of a traditional longboat. Our guide will reveal the city from a local’s point of view before leading us through the glittering Grand Palace complex.

Lunch will be served at the riverside restaurant.

There’s time left in your day for independent shopping, massages, exploration, and rooftop dining.  (B, L)

Picture
Day 3: INDEPENDENT EXPLORATION: BANGKOK
This is a perfect day for exploration according to your interests.
On the ground, Bangkok and its environs are home to temples galore, and from above, you’ll find outdoor bars and restaurants perched atop dizzying skyscrapers. The myriad of possibilities will fit every interest. (B)

Optional Bangkok experiences (inquire for descriptions, pricing, availability, and additional options):
  • Bangkok Flower Market
  • Ayutthaya and Bang Pa-In by van & boat
Day 4: CHIANG MAI

Included today is your flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. Chiang Mai's Old City retains traces of walls and moats from its glory days. Nowadays we find Buddhist Temples, tuk-tuks, shopping, and street food vendors at every turn.

We'll enjoy the balance of our day relaxing at our 5* resort before an included dinner at one of our favorite Chiang Mai restaurants (B, D)
Picture
Day 5: RESCUED ELEPHANT PARK
This morning we play with the elephants at an ethical rescued Elephant Park. Fall in love with these beautiful giants in a respectful, responsible, animal-friendly environment. We’ll feed and walk with these delightful creatures before giving them a thorough scrubbing (they love it!).

This afternoon is a perfect time to explore walkable Chiang Mai. You might even be interested in participating in a "monk chat" where you can ask questions of Buddhist monks. (B)
Day 6: CHIANG MAI INDEPENDENT EXPLORATION
Today is yours to spend as you wish. Take advantage of one of our Digging Deeper options, or explore Chiang Mai’s many temples or spa opportunities.

Your tour director will invite you to join in on an optional visit to the Night Bazaar. It starts in the late afternoon and continues until around midnight. Chiang Mai is famous for its multiple night markets when roads are closed to all vehicular traffic so you can browse the goods on display, bargain with vendors for a good price and wander freely around without traffic worries.

You’ll find silver items, handicrafts, bags, clothing, perfume, shoes, belts, lanterns, street performers, food stalls, wood carvings and woodwork, sketch artists, ornaments, candles, and housewares. There are generally no permanent restaurants in these markets but there are plenty of food and drink stalls and eateries. (B)

Digging Deeper optional Chiang Mai experiences (inquire for descriptions, pricing, availability, and additional options):

Phnom Penh was once considered one of the most beautiful cities in the Orient, and despite its recent turbulent history it still retains a colonial charm as much of its original architecture remains. Cambodia’s capital is a bustling city majestically located at the confluence of the mighty rivers of the Mekong and the Tonlé Sap. Wide tree-lined boulevards and many colonial-era buildings reflect the glorious days and add to the charm of the city where Asian traditions meet Western customs in a fascinating way.

Upon arrival, we’ll settle in at our relaxing hotel.

Dinner is included tonight. (B, D)

Day 12: SKUON & SIEM REAP
This morning we'll head overland to Siem Reap, the gateway to the temples of Angkor. But first we'll stop at the town of Skuon to see their most famous specialty being sold - deep-fried tarantula! A favorite snack of many Cambodians, the spiders are caught in the soft ground of the surrounding countryside and dug out of their burrows.

Siem Reap is nestled between rice paddies and stretched along the Siem Reap River. The small provincial capital of Siem Reap Town serves as the gateway to the millennium-old temple ruins of the Khmer Empire. Designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Angkor Archaeological Park encompasses dozens of temple ruins including Bayon, Banteay Srey and the legendary Angkor Wat.

The rest of the day is yours for independent exploration or to relax at our Golf & Spa resort hotel. Dinner is included. (B, D)
