Oh, sure, that village on that coastline is there, but someone took a heavy hand to their photo editor to ramp up the color intensity and erase the hundreds of tourists filling the frame. They got creative with the angle or got up at sunrise to get that snapshot without a soul around.

Film crews blocked off entire streets or built sets and used CGI to recreate the environment. And that favorite show? It wasn’t filmed in one location. The logistics to get from one setting of your favorite show to another are a beast.

The Reality

Mass tourism is a reality now. With overcrowded bucket list sites, popular villages teeming with visitors, and long queues despite “skip-the-line tickets,” too often the reality of a place doesn’t meet traveler expectations.

One of our biggest passions (and challenges) at Soirée is to help our esteemed guests to understand how and why to skip “Instagrammable" sites that have become over-touristed in order to find authentic magical moments and experiences by getting off the beaten path.

​We don’t focus on getting you to the actual filming locations that had you swooning, but on how we can help you feel like you’ve stepped into a scene that takes your breath away.

A recent Soirée Travel guest opened the windows of her room in an ancient hilltop village in the Le Marche region of Italy, admired the view, and exclaimed, face glowing, “I’m in Under the Tuscan Sun!”
