Timeless Italy
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Rome
Welcome to Rome, where all roads lead! The Eternal City has been waiting for you. Your airport arrival transfer is included.
Your tour manager will meet you at the hotel this afternoon for a short orientation. A welcome dinner is included tonight. Prepare to feast like a Roman! D (indicates an included meal: Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner)
Day 2: Colosseum & Forum Guided Tour
Today, on a guided Colosseum tour, you can experience this historic Rome icon to the fullest. After skipping the main entrance line, explore the Colosseum with an informative guide, who shares stories about life in Ancient Rome. Then visit the Roman Forum to complete your tour of Rome’s top ancient sites.
You’ll have plenty of time this afternoon and evening to continue exploring The Eternal City to your heart’s desire! Our Tour Manager can make suggestions. B
Day 3: Vatican Guided Tour
This morning you’ll see the highlights of the Vatican on this skip-the-line tour of the Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel. Join our knowledgeable guide for a visit to the incomparable Vatican Museums—home to one of the most extensive and impressive art collections in the world. Admire the Raphael Rooms and take in the incomparable frescos of the Sistine Chapel. Afterward embark on a guided tour of St. Peter's Basilica, a work of art in itself.
Create your own Roman Holiday this afternoon as you pursue your own interests in Rome. Our Tour Manager will be there to assist you. Tonight we'll say goodbye to Rome with an included group dinner. B, D
Day 4: Assisi and the "Green heart of Italy"
This morning we're off to the region of Umbria, known as the "Green heart of Italy." We'll stop in Assisi for lunch on your own, giving you plenty of time to explore the birthplace of St. Francis, one of Italy's two patron saints. Assisi is a small hillside town with a fascinating history. Visit the double-decker church--one on top of the other--built in his honor beginning in 1228.
Afterward, we'll drive to our lovely hotel below Assisi. Relax in this beautiful historic property where a skillful restoration maintains the original structure in a masterful blend of ancient and modern. Dinner is included at the hotel tonight. B, D
Day 5: Siena, Wine tasting & lunch, and Florence
We're off to Tuscany! First stop, Siena, a fabulous village built among the Tuscan hills. Here your expert guide will lead you on our guided walking tour of the city to include one of the most remarkable medieval squares in Europe. Siena has also one of the most monumental Cathedrals of Italy, and we're taking you inside.
After our site-seeing, we'll enjoy a fantastic (and ample) lunch at one of our favorite wineries. But not without a little tour and a big tasting to go with it!
Soon we'll find ourselves in Florence where we'll linger for a couple of nights. Your Tour Manager will orient you to the heart of the city--where we're staying, of course--and you'll enjoy the evening on your own. B, L
Day 6: Florence walking tour with Michelangelo's "David"
Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance. Romantic, enchanting, and irresistible, this compact city will wow you with its extraordinary art, architecture, walkability and cuisine.
This morning we'll see Florence on a walking tour with our private expert guide. Visit the world renown Accademia. See one of Michelangelo's most famous works: the breathtaking "David." The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Dinner is included tonight B, D
Day 6: Ferrara & Venice
It's a leisurely pace for us today as we drive to Venice. First we'll stop in Ferrara, still ringed by its ancient walls and boasting a fortress with moat in the center of the city. The tranquility of the town isn't the only delicious part--an included authentic local lunch is on our menu here!
Then onward to Venice, a city like no other. We'll finally arrive at our hotel by private water taxi. Your Tour Manager will orient you to this canal city's pedestrian-only streets and alleyways. B, L
Day 7: Venice with Doge's Palace & Isle of Murano
This morning you'll enjoy a guided tour of the intriguing Doge's Palace with our expert local guide. The Doge’s Palace and Saint Mark’s Basilica are two of Venice’s most beloved destinations, but the two landmarks can have ticket lines to match. See both landmarks with your guide on a tour that includes skip-the-line access, so you can make the most of your time in Venice.
We'll take you by boat to the Isle of Murano, famous for its more than 700-year history of glassmaking. You'll see a demonstration, and have time to admire the incredible art before we return to Venice.
Enjoy an afternoon to experience Venice your way, and then meet your Tour Manager for an authentic Venetian dinner as we say farewell to Venice! B, D
